Hope Village

Laneside Farm
and Cottages
|
Laneside Farm borders Hope, just a few minutes walk to the railway
station and village amenities. It lies within the magnificent
Hope Valley which divides the wild rugged gritstone moorlands
of the Dark Peak from the gentler rolling hills and dales of the
White Peak. It is at the heart of The Peak Park Conservation Area
on the valley floor surrounded by hills. Close by is the market
town of Bakewell, with the spa towns of Buxton and Matlock Bath
an easy drive. Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are 15-20 minutes
away. For the dedicated walker, the Pennine way starts just three
miles away, whilst for the less energetic, Monsal Dale, Dove Dale
and Lathkill Dale are all within easy reach. Castleton, with its
caverns and Blue John stone is a pleasant half-hour's riverside
stroll across the fields.
Activities, including horse riding, gliding, hang-gliding, climbing,
fishing, golf and cycling are all at hand. There is open-air swimming
at Hathersage - 5 minutes by car - and good indoor pools at Bakewell
and Buxton. All around the unspoilt Derbyshire villages are there
for you to explore.
Sheep are reared on the 100 acres around Laneside. We have a
few hens (a bonus of staying here are the free, free-range eggs)
and geese, which children are welcome to feed, and there's any
number of 'wild' ducks from the river who know how to exploit
our visitors. - Laneside will appeal particularly to those who
like the sights and sounds of the country but not necessarily
the mud and smells!

Dorothy writes:-
Gypsy was the last working horse at Laneside; a big black and
white Shire that my small friends and I rode altogether, our legs
stretched across her broad back. Gypsy would be surprised at the
change in her digs...
The sitting / dining room has an oak dining table and chairs
and there is comfortable seating, looking out - through a large
picture window with French doors - onto a small courtyard garden
with garden furniture. The cottage is well equipped with a large
flat-screen LCD TV plus satellite package, DVD, Video, CD play
and radio. The kitchen is adjacent to the sitting room and has
a fridge, separate freezer, dishwasher, microwave and cooker.
The cottage has its own washing machine and dryer. The bathroom
is spacious with a corner bath and an enormous walk-in power shower.
The bedroom has a ` Super-King-Size` 6ft bed, which can devide
into two singles if preferred, with reading lights, dressing table
and seating and there is a second flat-screen LCD TV here.
Gypsy's Barn is on the one ground floor level with wide doorways,
step-less entry to the shower and is suitable for the less able.
It has under-floor heating throughout. There is parking by the
cottage with access to the river across the farmyard.
